Anheuser-Busch’s Problems Get Much Worse – Ted Cruz Unloads Jaw-Dropping Accusation

What’s Happening:

By now, you probably know about the damage the Bud Light boycott has done to Anheuser-Busch. The company made the country’s top beer. Now, it is shutting down factories and worried about the future. Americans have refused to support Anheuser-Busch out of outrage that the company jumped into the culture war.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg for Anheuser-Busch’s problems. A ranking Republican senator has launched a probe that could send the entire alcohol industry reeling. His committee is looking into marketing that is allegedly selling alcohol to the wrong demographic. And he decided to send Anheuser-Busch a little letter.

From Fox News:

Senate Commerce Committee ranking member Ted Cruz, R-Texas, demanded that beer giant Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB) cooperate with the committee’s probe “regarding marketing alcohol to children.” […]

“On May 17, I wrote to Anheuser-Busch [North America] CEO Brendan Whitworth requesting documents and information regarding alarming allegations that Anheuser-Busch was marketing beer to [minors] through its partnership with social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney,” Cruz wrote.

“Meanwhile, nearly three months have passed since I requested documents from Mr. Whitworth in my capacity as Ranking Member of the Commerce Committee, and Anheuser-Busch has yet to provide the Committee with a single document,” Cruz wrote.

Uh-oh. Anheuser-Busch might be in big trouble. It looks like the Senate Commerce Committee launched a probe after Bud Light partnered with a transgender social media figure. It appears that Congress was concerned that Bud Light was using this person, who is famous among young social media users, to sell beer to minors.

Ted Cruz sent a request to Anheuser-Busch for information about this partnership. But three months had passed, and the company refused to even respond. Now, the Republican is demanding cooperation from this company–and the consequences could be dire.

Americans were outraged that a once-patriotic company was joining the left to endorse transgenderism. But, it turns out, that wasn’t even the worst thing they did. Anheuser-Busch might be guilty of breaking marketing rules imposed by its own industry. By putting Dylan Mulvaney’s face on their cans, they might be guilty of trying to sell beer to children.

And that could be a much worse violation than just breaking some industry rules.

To make matters worse, Anheuser-Busch has failed to even answer a request by a ranking U.S. senator. Do they guess have any clue what they are doing? If a senator wrote me a letter, I’d like to think I’d get back to him ASAP.

Anheuser-Busch’s refusal to comply could land them in a whole lot of hot water.

Key Takeaways:

  • Cruz is demanding a response from Anheuser-Busch over the Dylan Mulvaney controversy.
  • The Senate Commerce Committee is concerned that Bud Light was marketing alcohol to children.
  • The parent company has refused to provide the requested documents, provoking a response from the senator.
