Let’s be honest, Americans. Watching the news out of our ‘elite’ universities these days feels less like observing higher education and more like tuning into a bad reality show sponsored by anarchy. And who are some of the most enthusiastic, flag-burning, cop-screaming-at actors in this drama? Well, let’s just say a not-insignificant number of them are guests in our country, enjoying the privilege of American education while seemingly despising everything America stands for.
Meanwhile, the so-called ‘leaders’ of these hallowed halls of higher learning often seem to be auditioning for roles as professional doormats, especially when it comes to the disgusting rise of antisemitism and anti-American sentiment fermenting on their grounds. While the Trump administration has made it crystal clear that coddling these hate-fests and disruptive tantrums won’t fly – and that institutions will pay a hefty price for looking the other way – one patriot has just taken things to a whole new, and frankly, very welcome level. You’re going to want to hear this.
That’s right, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has clearly had enough of the charade. He announced Wednesday night that the State Department is now “reviewing the visa status of the trespassers and vandals” who decided Columbia University’s Butler Library was their new activist playground. And in words that should be music to every law-abiding American’s ears, Rubio declared, “Pro-Hamas thugs are no longer welcome in our great nation.” Amen to that! This is the kind of decisive action hardworking Americans have been demanding.
Anarchy in the Ivory Tower
The latest Ivy League spectacle involved some 100 “student agitators” at Columbia University, many with their faces conveniently wrapped in keffiyehs, storming the Butler Library. This wasn’t some harmless sit-in; they occupied the building while other students were actually trying to, you know, study for finals. Public Safety officers managed to arrest many, but Acting University President Claire Shipman had to call in the NYPD to clear out the rest of the self-proclaimed revolutionaries. At least 75 were eventually cuffed and led away.
Militant student activist group Columbia University Apartheid Divest, a name that just rolls off the tongue, proudly shared videos of protesters shouting about having “nothing to lose but our chains.” One has to wonder what oppressive “chains” they’re laboring under while attending a multi-thousand-dollar-a-year institution. The ordinary students, the ones actually there to learn, were forced to evacuate, missing crucial study time thanks to this mob’s antics. Two Columbia Public Safety Officers even sustained injuries during a crowd surge caused by these “peaceful” demonstrators.
No More Welcome Mat for Terror Sympathizers
Secretary Rubio’s move isn’t just a one-off. The State Department issued a stern, broader warning to all foreign nationals gracing our universities with their presence. It’s a message that’s long overdue.
From ‘The Post Millennial’:
“Foreign university students in America have been put on notice: if you break the law or support terrorism in our country, we will revoke your visa. This administration will not tolerate noncitizens causing mayhem on our college campuses,” the statement declared.
ICE, as you might expect under a no-nonsense Trump administration, was reportedly closely monitoring the situation. According to Fox News, agents planned to fingerprint those arrested to determine their immigration status. An ICE source was quoted as saying, “Time to make a point.” Indeed it is. Adding insult to injury, these “activists” were reportedly backing Mahmoud Khalil, the accused ringleader of Columbia’s pro-Hamas cell, whose green card and student visa Homeland Security recently moved to revoke. They even had the gall to try and rename the historic library after Basel Al-Araj, a terrorist author who died in a gunfight with the IDF.
When Wokeness Hits the Wallet
Columbia University should know better by now, but perhaps some lessons need to be learned the hard way – repeatedly. This week’s unrest is disturbingly similar to last year’s debacle where far-left protesters occupied Hamilton Hall, leading to violent clashes and 109 arrests. That particular episode of coddling chaos prompted President Donald Trump to cancel a whopping $400 million in federal funding to Columbia, citing the school’s “failure to protect Jewish students.”
And now? The chickens are coming home to roost. As of this week, Columbia is reportedly considering laying off 180 staff members directly in the wake of that Trump administration funding cut. Critics rightly say the university brought this outcome on itself by caving to extremist ideology instead of defending academic integrity and student safety. It turns out there are real-world consequences for allowing your institution to become a playground for radicals who despise the very nation affording them opportunity.
Key Takeaways:
- Lawbreaking foreign students now face visa revocation; their welcome is over.
- Strong conservative leadership is essential to restore order when universities fail.
- Institutions coddling campus radicals face severe consequences and financial penalties.
