Hobbs said Tuesday in a letter to the president of the State Senate, “Today I vetoed Senate Bill 1129. This bill fails to leverage existing legal mechanisms, respect the due process rights of lawful tenants, and minimize unintended consequences such as for victims of domestic violence.”
The Democrat governor of Arizona vetoed a bipartisan law that would have helped homeowners remove squatters. The bill gave residents the power to request police to immediately remove a squatter who could not prove they were lawfully permitted to live there.
But the far-left activist governor shut down the bill. Hobbs claimed it neglected “existing” means for removing squatters. Otherwise, there would not have been a crisis in the first place. In many states, squatters have more rights than landowners and police are unable to remove them.
