Biden Appears to Fall Asleep During Africa Summit While Promising Billions in Spending

America breathed a collective sigh of relief when it became clear Joe Biden wouldn’t serve a second term. For years, Democrats insisted we put up with a man who is far too old, too frail, and too out of touch to lead the country.

From his infamous gaffes to his troubling inability to finish a sentence without losing his train of thought. Biden’s presidency has been a real-life blooper reel. And yet, his party always waved off his obvious decline as a figment of our imagination.

Even with just days left in office, Biden continues to prove the critics right. This week, at an international summit in Angola, he once again showed why many Americans questioned his fitness for the presidency.

As members spoke about trains in Africa, Biden humiliated himself and all Americans.

From Breitbart:
President Joe Biden appeared drowsy and closed his eyes Wednesday for about 80 seconds during a summit in Angola…

During his trip, Biden vowed to give the African nations $2.5 billion of taxpayer funds for a railway corridor through the continent…

Twice, however, during Wednesday’s summit, Biden closed his eyes for at least a minute.

Biden’s Train to Nowhere

The Angola summit was supposed to be an opportunity for Biden to bolster relations with African nations. Instead, it turned into another cringe-worthy display of his age-related decline.

During the summit, Biden announced he was pledging $2.5 billion in taxpayer money for a railway corridor across Africa. Yes, while Americans struggle with inflation and rising energy costs, Biden decided trains in Africa are a top priority.

To make things more awkward, Biden told Angolan President João Lourenço, “I’m coming back to ride on the train all the way from end to end. I like trains a lot. So I’m coming back. You’re stuck with me.”

It’s the kind of comment that might be endearing coming from your retired grandpa, but not the President of the United States. Twice during the summit, Biden closed his eyes for more than a minute, and at one point, he appeared to drop something while his hand twitched.

This isn’t the first time Biden’s napping habits have made headlines. In 2021, cameras caught him seemingly dozing off during the opening speeches of the Cop26 summit in Glasgow.

More recently, he admitted to governors that he needed more sleep and planned to schedule his events only before 8 p.m. His quip—“I’m fine, I don’t know about my brain, though”—was meant to be self-deprecating. Instead, it felt like the most honest thing he’s ever said.

A Presidency Defined by Decline

Biden’s decision to bow out of the presidential race in July came as no surprise. Even his supporters had grown tired of making excuses for his missteps, gaffes, and outright embarrassing moments.

For four years, America endured a president who seemed more interested in nap time than decision-making. His frequent “lids” (the practice of calling a day early for the press) became the stuff of legend.

Meanwhile, Biden’s policies often reflected the same lack of energy. His administration was slow to respond to crises, whether it was the border, Afghanistan, or inflation.

His focus on “woke” priorities like funding African railroads or canceling student debt seemed wildly out of step with what Americans actually needed. And let’s not forget his party’s obsession with blaming Donald Trump for everything, as if that was some kind of substitute for governing.

The Angola Summit and Beyond

The Angola summit was a microcosm of Biden’s presidency. There was a lot of lofty talk—“Africa is the future!”—whatever that means.

Biden seemed more concerned with his global legacy, throwing billions of dollars at projects overseas while neglecting issues at home.

As Biden’s presidency limps to its conclusion, one thing is clear: America dodged a bullet by not giving him a second term. His tenure will likely be remembered as a cautionary tale—a lesson in what happens when political expediency trumps common sense.

For years, Democrats ignored the glaring signs of Biden’s decline. Now, as his time in office comes to an end, the consequences of that decision are all too apparent.

Key Takeaways

  • Biden’s presidency highlighted his inability to lead, with numerous public displays of age-related decline.
  • Even in his final days, Biden prioritizes foreign projects over solving domestic issues.
  • Americans are relieved his time in office is ending, marking a chance for real leadership to return.
