New York Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Monday the state identified approximately 18,000 job openings — from more than 350 employers across various industries in the state — that are willing to hire immigrants eligible to legally work in the United States.“Migrants and asylum seekers came here to work — so let’s put them to work,” Governor Hochul said in a news release.

Democrats often claim the country “needs” more illegal entrants, because they will do the jobs Americans “refuse” to do. What is often overlooked is the fact that, for generations, employers have used migrants to replace American workers.
Companies often prefer migrants over Americans, because these newcomers will work for much lower pay. In most cases, migrants are willing to work below the nationally-required minimum wage.
Because these aliens are undocumented, they do not pay taxes on their wages. Yet they still receive government aid, including free housing, food, and healthcare. Most migrants send portions of their pay to their families in other countries, resulting in billions of dollars lost to the U.S. economy.
Hochul’s announcement appears to confirm these criticisms. Millions of Americans have expressed economic hardship under the Biden administration. Inflation has rapidly increased over the last three years, outpacing salaries.
Businesses are supposedly desperate for workers, yet they will not pay Americans a living wage. At the same time, Democrats like Hochul are urging businesses to hire illegal crossers, who will work at below-standard wages.
It is unlikely New York residents will take kindly to this announcement.
