It’s no secret that the left has been trying to undermine Americans’ constitutional rights for years. They use their special, protected groups as an excuse to violate millions of Americans’ rights. It seems, to Democrats, the rights of some groups are more important than the constitutionally-protected rights of others.
In a story we’ve seen before, Democrats sued a baker who refused to make a custom wedding cake for a gay couple. While the baker was standing up for her religious convictions, she did refer the customers to another bakery. That wasn’t good enough for the rabid left, who tried to destroy this woman’s business.
But a California state court did not agree.

A California state judge on Friday handed a victory to a bakery owner who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple, citing religious objections…
The judge ruled that baking the custom cake falls under “artistic expression,” so Miller’s First Amendment protections to free speech supersede the state’s interest.
“[The department] failed to prove that defendants intentionally discriminated against Eileen and Mireya because of their sexual orientation,” the judge ruled.
Democrats hide behind accusations of “discrimination” to tear down Americans’ First Amendment rights. In this case, they attacked a baker who simply refused to make a custom wedding cake for a gay couple. That is hardly “discrimination” when people can buy cakes literally everywhere.
This baker was not stopping them from getting married. She was not attacking them or slandering them in any way. She even recommended other bakers who could have made their cake.
Yet, Democrats used the episode as a means to destroy this woman’s business. All in the name of protecting the “rights” of one group over millions of Americans. It seems to Democrats, freedom of religion only matters when religious people do whatever Democrats tell them to do.
The moment your religious beliefs disagree with the left’s agenda, they will come after you. So much for the First Amendment, huh? If California Democrats had their way, every Christian, Muslim, and Jew would have to give up their rights to cater to gays and lesbians.
In this case, the state Superior Court ruled in favor of the baker. The judge decided that the state failed to prove that she discriminated against this gay couple. But, chances are, the fight is far from over. The left might try to appeal (which they had done previously), taking this to a higher court.
Even if this battle is over, the war is far from done. Democrats won’t rest until our constitutional–especially religious–liberties come second to their radical agenda.
