What’s Happening:

We recently reported on how the Trump administration is cracking down on Chinese interference within our country.

The DOJ arrested two Chinese hackers who tried to steal “terabytes” of COVID data from companies and government agencies.

But that was just the beginning.

It was revealed by Sen. Marco Rubio that a Chinse consulate in Houston was in fact conducting “spying activity”:

The U.S. directed the closure of the consulate on Tuesday. The Chinese government said Wednesday morning that they had been instructed to do so without warning, but Rubio claims the move was “long overdue.”

“#China’s Houston consulate is a massive spy center, forcing it to close is long overdue,” he said, describing it as a “central node” of the Chinese Communist Party’s spy operations.

But as this consulate was being shut down, it looks like a few Chinese operatives tried to cover their tracks:

Chinese officials at the Chinese General Consulate in Houston reportedly rushed to burn classified documents on Tuesday evening after learning the United States ordered them to “cease all operations and events” at the consulate over security concerns.

The Trump administration has been sounding the alarm on the danger communist China poses to the United States.

Attorney General Barr warned American businesses and universities not to allow the CCP to infiltrate their institutions anymore.

Sen. Ted Cruz has been vocal about the Chinese company Huawei and others, which he accuses use their technology to gather data on American citizens.

President Trump has hammered China since before he was elected, accusing them of unfair trade practices, IP theft, as well as their history of human rights violations.

With the onset of the COVID pandemic, numerous U.S. lawmakers have demanded sanctions and other penalties against China.

The Houston Fire Department was alerted to reports that items were being burned at the Chinese General Consulate.

According to accounts, “classified documents” were being burned. Considering the shutdown of this facility, it is possible Chinese agents were trying to keep information out of U.S. hands.

If what Sen. Rubio and others say is true, then these “diplomats” were trying to destroy evidence of their spying activity.

This should only wake up more leaders to the danger China poses to our country.

Key Takeaways:

  • President Trump shut down a Chinese consulate for alleged “spying activity.”
  • After the announcement, reports came out that agents were burning documents.
  • This comes as numerous recent stories suggest China is spying on American citizens.
