Blue State Baffled After Election Recount – House Seat Finally Decided in Lauren Boebert’s Colorado District

What’s Happening:

Democrats did all they could to shut out strong, conservative candidates in the 2022 midterms. And it seemed unlikely, on Election Night, that red Republicans would be able to make big gains in hard-blue states.

Except for one, unapologetic warrior. Lauren Boebert was fighting a tough re-election battle against a leftist candidate propped up with big, Democrat bucks. The race was so close, it triggered an automatic recount. The writing was on the wall, prompting one of the candidates to concede. Now that the recount is finally finished, we know for a fact who will be holding that seat.

From Fox News:

Freedom Caucus firebrand Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo, has won her bid for re-election against Democrat Adam Frisch, an automatic recount confirmed Monday.

The race was decided by 546 votes…

Secretary of State Jena Griswold announced the results Monday evening. Frisch gained a total of four votes in the recount, not nearly enough to catch up and overtake Boebert’s lead. An Aspen City Councilman, Frisch had already conceded the race last month after the first tally put him just under the state’s margin for a mandatory recount.

To the upset of millions of Democrats, strong conservative Lauren Boebert secured her re-election by 546 votes. The automatic recount might have put some Republicans on edge. How many times in recent years have safe races mysteriously flipped during prolonged ballot counts?

But in the end, her rival only got four more votes after the recount, assuring voters that Boebert will continue to be Colorado’s representative for the 3rd District. Boebert made waves in Congress in her first term, refusing to comply with a new rule that banned concealed carry for Congress members.

Boebert fought Nancy Pelosi and the liberal establishment, winning the right to protect herself on Capitol Hill. Boebert is also an outspoken member of the Freedom Caucus and a strong Trump supporter. Pundits assumed she’d lose the race because of her connection with Trump. But, as usual, she defied their expectations and held onto her seat.

This is yet another House seat in the Republican column. Democrats might brag that a “red wave” didn’t give Republicans a massive majority. But they are still in control of the chamber, ready to shake Biden in the new year.

Key Takeaways:

  • A recount confirmed Rep. Lauren Boebert’s re-election victory.
  • She defeated her liberal rival by only 546 votes.
  • Boebert is a rare, strong conservative from the blue state of Colorado.
