What’s Happening:
Despite an alarming rise in crime across America, progressives continue to oppose law and order. Leftists want police departments “defunded.”
And despite crime driving people out of blue cities, some Democrats want to eliminate even more crime-fighting measures.
In one city, the police are planning to build a much-needed training facility. But progressives have planned to block this project. And signs point that might do more than simply protest.
From The Blaze:
“Block Cop City” organizers have indicated the siege will be nonviolent, notwithstanding their stated support of “all forms of protest and organizing” and refusal to distinguish between “good/bad or legitimate/illegitimate protest or action.” However, there has been chatter on the related anonymous anarchist site “Scenes from the Atlanta Forest” indicating not all anarchists are willing to hold to the nonviolence directive.
“Cop City” is what leftists are calling a planned $90 million police training center outside of Atlanta, GA. Leftist groups want to stop the building of this center, seemingly convinced this will prevent police from enforcing the law.
The misguided agenda of these groups includes “harassing contractors” and other forms of demonstrations. However, communication on an anarchist website suggests that some protesters are planning more on November 13th.
On the website, anarchists have shared instructions on how to make bombs for the “nonviolent protest.” Users have called on protesters to set things on fire, destroy parts of the construction project, and break windows.
It is possible that some of the protesters will try to inflict harm on workers and police at the construction site. But the entire movement appears ill-advised and pointless.
Progressives who continue to oppose law and order are not helping their communities. Cities that defund police departments or elected progressive DAs have seen major decline over the last three years. Even Democrat mayors have pushed to restore police funding and eliminate policies that have encouraged crime.
Those opposed to this training center might have even bigger plans. They have discussed other locations they might want to “hit” during this protest, leading to further harm. The website also provides links with personal information on Atlanta police officers, board members, and contractors.
The scope of this “protest” might be bigger than the city thinks and might require serious police involvement.
Key Takeaways:
- Groups of leftists are protesting a police training center being built in Atlanta.
- Some have discussed using violent tactics to discourage the project.
- A website being used by the protesters included guides on building bombs and other vulnerable locations.
