However, a federal court recently found that this argument holds no water — and as a result, Abrams’ legal team has to pay up.

Stacey Abrams started the Fair Fight Action group, which went to court claiming that voter suppression contributed to her losses on the campaign trail. It’s a claim she hasn’t backed away from in recent months.

Specifically, the Fair Fight Action team went after certain voting laws, which they claimed unfairly hurt Abrams’ chances.

But the court doesn’t agree, and now the legal team for Stacey Abrams will have to pay over a quarter-million dollars in costs. It’s a significant victory for Georgia taxpayers.

Failed Democrat Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams’ Fair Fight Action group has been ordered to pay a quarter-million dollars in legal costs by a federal court.

Fair Fight Action, a voting rights organization founded by Abrams, was ordered to pay $231,303.71 in legal fees after their longtime predominate case, Fair Fight Action v. Raffensperger, came to a close with a federal judge ruling against them in their remaining three claims.

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger celebrated the ruling, saying it’s a win for both taxpayers and voters “who knew all along that Stacey Abrams voter suppression claims were false.”

He added that it has never been harder to cheat in Georgia, and Abrams simply didn’t have a legal leg to stand on.

But Raffensperger also said the ruling should’ve gone further:

This is a start, but I think Stacey Abrams should pay back the millions of taxpayer dollars the state was forced to spend to disprove her false claims.

The Fair Fight Action attorneys tried to challenge absentee ballot rules, voter roll oversight, and certain verification rules, but it hasn’t gained any traction in the courts.

In fact, U.S. District Judge Steven Jones ruled against the team last September, saying that Abrams’ lawyers didn’t provide the necessary evidence, and the challenged laws didn’t violate the constitution or the Voting Rights Act.

The controversy surrounding our election integrity likely won’t end any time soon. But in this case, the system was deemed reliable.

Raffensperger finished by saying:

Georgia’s election laws strike an appropriate balance between election security and voter convenience.

We saw record voter turnout in 2022, extremely high voter turnout for a midterm election, at levels that prove claims of voter suppression are just as trumped up as claims of stolen elections.

Abrams recently confirmed she’d likely run again for Governor, though the Democrat might have a very rocky campaign road ahead of her.
