What’s Happening:

We are only a few months away from the November election. In addition to the presidency, countless officers at the state and local levels are up for grabs. Both parties seek to hold onto crucial seats, as well as flip vulnerable ones to give them a majority.

But it appears the Democratic Party of Missouri has hit a snag in their quest to win the state Senate. They are asking one of their candidates to quit his campaign, after an odd encounter:

The Missouri Democratic Party said Monday a state Senate candidate from St. Louis should abandon his campaign after a party official said the candidate sent her “creepy” late-night Facebook messages over the weekend.

The Democrats’ statement came after Rachel Gonzalez, a 21-year-old member of the state party executive committee, shared a screenshot of an online conversation between her and Bill Haas, 75, in which he asks if she has a boyfriend and if she is alone.

According to Rachel Gonzalez, 75-year-old Bill Haas—a candidate for Missouri Senate—sent her troubling messages late night on Facebook. The Democrat asked the 21-year-old member of the party if she was “alone” and had a boyfriend.

Gonzalez accused Haas of “inappropriate behavior.” Now, the party is asking Haas to discontinue his campaign. They are also asking other women who may have stories about him to come forward.

It’s clear why the party is asking the man to step down now. If he refuses, he might have a hard time winning his race, come November. Perhaps if he steps down now, the party can find a better replacement.

Already critics are raising questions. Why are these stories continuing to pop up on the Democrats’ side? Republicans have their share of politicians who acted inappropriately. But it seems the party that embraces “feminism” and claims to be a champion of women all too often is found to have men like this.

The “MeToo” movement swept through the Democratic Party, exposing numerous high-profile men from politics, media, and the entertainment industry. Many had to step down from their seats or jobs. Others were arrested and convicted.

Now, this state Senate candidate is being outed for “creepy” messages.

Key Takeaways:

  • Democrats from Missouri are urging a state Senate candidate to step down.
  • The 75-year-old man is accused of sending inappropriate messages to a young woman over Facebook.
  • It appears the shadow MeToo hasn’t left the Democratic Party.
