Days after war erupted in Israel, Joe Biden requested $100 billion from the American taxpayer. He claimed the money would go to help conflicts raging overseas. That included the war in Ukraine and Israel.
Part of that money, according to the White House, will go to secure the U.S. southern border. Many have pointed out that the current border crisis can be exploited by forces from the Middle East.
Securing the border has become a top priority for many lawmakers. But Republican Sen. Ted Cruz is blowing the whistle on Biden’s border plans. According to him, Biden’s funds will only the current problem “worse.”

“The border funding that is included is all designed to accelerate the processing of illegal immigration,” Cruz told Fox News in an interview Friday. “In other words, it’s not designed to stop the crisis at our southern border. It’s designed to make it worse.”
Sen. Cruz revealed that Biden’s request for $13.6 billion for “border protection” will not go to preventing migrants from entering the country. The media has apparently spun Biden’s request to suggest it will go toward measures like the border wall.
Instead, part of the money will go to address the flow of deadly fentanyl that is coming through Mexico. But the rest will add 1,600 more officers to the border. Not officers that will protect the border from illegal crossers.
But “asylum officers” who will speed up the process of letting illegal crossers into the country. Some of the funds will allegedly go to “cutting-edge” tech that is supposed to help the border, but not a physical barrier–which has been proven to work.
Cruz is accusing Biden of making the border crisis worse. Since Joe Biden entered office, over 4 million migrants have illegally entered the border. That number reflects those who have actually been caught (and released as per Biden’s policy).
That does not include those crossers who were never detected or apprehended by law enforcement. Some estimate the numbers are much higher.
Biden has been criticized for releasing millions of illegal crossers into the country. His administration has plans to give them government-issued IDs, free healthcare, housing, and food. Meanwhile, Americans suffer under worsening economic conditions, thanks to rampant inflation.
Sen. Cruz is demanding this funding request be broken up, instead of just a massive lump sum of $100 billion. This would give Congress the ability to quickly approve funding for Israel and other needs, while properly analyzing Biden’s agenda for the border.
The Republican explained a lack of money is not the real problem at the border, but Biden’s policies that have encouraged illegal crossings.
