Tensions between the left and the right came to a head this week. A police investigation has been opened to sort out the details.

Normally, politicians use their words to trade jabs at their opponents. But these days, you never know what might happen.

After a simple budget proposal hearing, things went sideways. A staff member for a liberal PAC assaulted a female Trump official. Now the police are involved.

U.S. Capitol Police have arrested a male Democratic operative for assaulting a female Interior Department communications official following a House budget hearing Thursday.

The assault happened after Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke finished testifying on the department’s 2019 budget proposal before the House Committee on Natural Resources. The suspect identified himself as a reporter with American Bridge and pushed a female Interior Department communications official to the floor, chasing after Zinke, The Daily Caller News Foundation learned…

Police took the American Bridge operative into custody on Thursday. Police “arrested an adult male for simple assault against another individual outside room 1324 in the Longworth House Office Building,” an officer told Politico on Thursday.

American Bridge has deep ties to the liberal base. Founded in 2010 by David Brock, it has raised tens of millions of dollars for liberal campaigns. They claim to hold “Republicans accountable for their words and actions.” M-hm, okay. Maybe they should do the same for their own staff.

You won’t be surprised to know that American Bridge has been bankrolled by George Soros. Tom Steyer—another mega-donor for liberals—is also a regular contributor.

The group known as an “opposition research hub of the Democratic fundraising apparatus” seems to be deeply embedded in D.C.  They follow republican candidates on the campaign trail. We also know they are involved in policy meetings.

But it looks like their tactics leave much to be desired. In his eagerness to confront Secretary Zinke, this man pushed down a female communications official. Not cool, sir. Whether intentional or not, that kind of behavior is unacceptable.

Police are getting to the bottom of the case. Perhaps this event will require American Bridge to create higher standards for their dubious organization. We’ll see.
