Adams finally turned his plan around last Thursday night after public pressure.
Not only did the mayor plan on using a luxury complex to house migrants, but the plans were kept secret from the community. Residents only knew about what was going on, when they saw workings bringing beds into the building.
The building development had previously been marked for upscale housing in the neighborhood. But it was abandoned and left empty for decades. Instead of the city looking at restoring the complex, as housing for American citizens, it tried to use it to house illegal aliens.
A tremendous outcry erupted from the local community. And the mayor was forced to reverse the decision. Residents in blue cities are becoming increasingly angry over the migrant crisis. They are demanding migrants to be removed, perhaps deported. Yet Democrat mayors are making major budget cuts to house, feed, and accommodate aliens.
It’s unclear what Adams will now do to house the thousands of migrants that continue to pour into the city. The mayor has tried to stop the flow of migrants, by threatening bus companies and trying to move them to New Jersey. The one thing he has not done, it appears, is call on President Biden to close the border and deport illegal aliens.
