Democrat-Run State in Serious Trouble – May Soon ‘Run Out of Cash’ to Deal with New Crisis

That sage saying, “Be careful what you wish for,” may be getting a bit old after all that has happened to Democrat-run states. But the saying burns true for leftist politicians who announced to the whole world that they would provide sanctuary to any and all illegal immigrants.

Democrats got what they wished for thanks to Joe Biden who has flooded the United States with illegal immigrants that he invited since his campaign speeches for president. His call was answered en masse with more than 7 million illegal immigrants surging into the country.

Now those who Democrats said they would welcome are overwhelming social service systems and draining state coffers. The migrant crisis they created is so bad in Massachusetts that Democrats are begging for help.

From The Daily Wire:
Massachusetts is spending about $75 million a month on shelters and is reportedly on track to run out of cash next month as officials struggle to contend with a migrant crisis.

Massachusetts has seen an influx of thousands of migrants in recent months that has strained the state’s shelter system as well as its finances.

Democrat Governor Maura Healey’s administration has not revealed exactly when the money is slated to run out, but it is expected to be sometime in early or mid-April, according to the Boston Herald.

It’s so bad that the Democrats are adopting policies that Republicans have been criticized for suggesting in the past. Democrats now believe it’s appropriate to ask illegal immigrants to pull their own weight instead of just mooching off the system.

Healey’s administration announced this week that Massachusetts will soon start requiring migrants at the shelters to start showing they are attempting to obtain work or housing. The system has been swamped by the migrant crisis.

The state has reported that about 7,500 families are living in emergency assistance shelters, and another 240 families are housed at state overflow sites. The numbers do not consider the thousands more single migrants and homeless Americans housed in the shelters.

Healey’s spokesperson said the state Legislature is working on a supplemental budget to pay for the surging expenses. This includes adding hundreds of millions of dollars to the state budget to fund the government’s response to the migrant crisis.

Healey has asked the Biden administration to foot the bill for the crisis with federal tax dollars. The governor also wants federal authorities to speed up the work visa approval process for its migrant population.

The lapse into potential financial failure follows Healey’s decision in August to declare a state of emergency of the migrant crisis. She activated 250 state National Guard members to help in shelters and hotels housing migrants.

In October Healey warned that Massachusetts wouldn’t be able to guarantee shelter for illegals as the state system reached capacity. She called it a “new phase of this challenge.”

Massachusetts isn’t alone in struggling with the illegal migrant crisis. Other states and cities are scrambling to handle the influx, especially after border states such as Florida and Texas sent thousands of migrants into major cities.

New York City has seen more than 183,000 migrants arrive since spring of 2022 and its shelter system is overwhelmed. It’s the same story in Chicago where Democrat officials have experienced more than 37,000 migrants flooding into the Windy City since the summer of 2022.

Democrat leaders got what they wished for, now it’s time they figure out a way to deal with it and place the tax burden on the people who voted them into office – not everyone else.

Key Takeaways:

  • A Democrat-run state suffered a cash crunch dealing with the illegal migrant crisis.
  • Massachusetts paid out tens of millions of dollars per month to provide shelter.
  • The state’s Democrat governor cried out for federal help to pay the surging costs.
