What’s Happening:
After all the legal attacks against him, former President Donald Trump isn’t about to cut any slack for Democrats. This week he called out the federal government over what appears to be an obvious crime committed by a U.S. House representative.
The deed was caught on video and the lame excuse from the Democrat hasn’t gone over too well with politicians or the media. People want to know why more isn’t being done after what happened placed government leaders and staff in danger.
Trump wants to know if Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) will be prosecuted and imprisoned for pulling a fire alarm in a House office building ahead of a government spending vote last week.
From The Daily Wire:
“His egregious act is covered on tape, a horrible display of nerve and criminality,” Trump added, alluding to an image posted to social media.
Trump claimed that Bowman’s act was a “very dangerous ‘Obstruction of an Official Proceeding.’” This is the same charge levied against people connected to the January 6 “insurrection.”
Trump essentially yelled out his demand in all caps on social media: “HE MUST SUFFER THEIR SAME FATE. WHEN WILL HIS TRIAL BEGIN???”
Trump wasn’t the only one calling for accountability from Bowman’s action. Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) posted on X saying that pulling the fire alarm during a House vote was “clearly ‘interfering with a legislative proceeding.’” People arrested for protesting on January 6 are “serving hard time in prison for doing less,” Rosendale stated.
It appears Bowman is being investigated over the fire alarm incident. He answered for his actions by saying he was “rushing to make a vote” and mistakenly thought pulling the fire alarm would open a door. He apologized for “any confusion this caused.”
Confusion? Pulling a fire alarm is a crime. How could a U.S. Congressman not know this? We can only hope that House leaders take this matter seriously and hold Bowman accountable for what he did.
Key Takeaways:
- Trump calls for harsh punishment of Democrat congressman.
- Democrat Rep. Jamaal Bowan said what he did was a “mistake.”
- Republicans call for an investigation and strong penalties for him.
