They posted a photo of Goldman, branded him a “genocide enabler,” refunded his $9.82 purchase, and declared he should never return. “Too bad we didn’t recognize you right away, or we would have turned you away,” they wrote. This is from a company whose own website boasts that “the guest is sacred, the books are unbanned, and the door is open to everyone.” Turns out “everyone” carries quite the asterisk — one apparently shaped like a Star of David.

A party at war with itself

So who exactly did Poetica Coffee decide to publicly humiliate? Some MAGA firebrand? A hawkish Republican defense committee chair? Not quite.

Dan Goldman is a liberal Democrat. He’s called Benjamin Netanyahu’s government “extremist.” He’s opposed settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank. He’s described the situation in Gaza as “horrific” and pushed for an end to the fighting. Not exactly a neocon war drum, in other words.
