Donald Trump’s ex-national security adviser John Bolton has revealed he will stand against his former boss in the 2024 election.

The veteran foreign policy hawk, who was branded Mr Tough Guy by Trump, said his White House campaign will focus on being tougher on China and Russia.

The 74-year-old already has his Republican ticket rival in his sights, saying support for his MAGA policies is in ‘terminal decline’.

So, a man who has never run or held public office–yet has served the D.C. swamp for years–has announced his candidacy for president. John Bolton, who turned on Trump after he was fired, said he will run for president in 2024.

Bolton hasn’t, apparently, announced an official campaign. And it is unclear if he’s filed the necessary paperwork to become a primary Republican candidate. But it seems he does intend to run against Trump, if perhaps just to spite his former boss.

The former security adviser claims he will be tougher than Trump on China and Russia. It should be kept in mind that Bolton has served in Washington since the Reagan era. That means, he’s a long-time servant of the D.C. swamp.

His foreign policy views appear to amount to pushing new wars overseas, keeping the military-industrial complex very happy. It doesn’t appear that Bolton has mentioned any domestic policies, which are desperately needed during a time of rampant inflation and recession.

Bolton served Trump for just a year, when after that Trump says he fired the man. Bolton claims he resigned. Later on, he published a book aimed at slandering the Trump administration, making him the enemy of millions of Republican voters.

Can Bolton really gain enough momentum to topple Trump and secure the nomination? He might have the media on his side–because he is Trump’s enemy. But that in no way will help him win over GOP voters.
