Eleven Charged with Attempted Murder in July 4th Ambush on Texas ICE Facility

As millions of Americans celebrated our nation’s birthday with fireworks and backyard barbecues, an evil plot was taking shape in Texas. The danger to law enforcement officers has gotten worse in recent years. Those protecting our communities are now targets for extremists who hate basic law and order.

What happens when anti-government radicals decide to take action? The answer played out on July 4th in a small Texas town. There, the celebration of American freedom became a chance for violence against those who protect our borders.

Federal authorities have arrested 11 people for what they call a “planned ambush” on officers at an ICE detention facility in Alvarado, Texas. The attack hurt an Alvarado police officer. It happened on Independence Day at the Prairieland ICE detention center. This shows how far radical leftists will go to attack those who enforce our immigration laws.

From The Daily Wire:
Eleven people have been arrested in what law enforcement described as a “planned ambush” of corrections officers at an ICE detention facility in Alvarado, Texas, on July 4.

One Alvarado police officer was shot in the neck during the attack and is expected to survive.

“Early reports indicate that more than a dozen masked individuals dressed in black arrived at the Prairieland ICE detention facility late Friday night and vandalized vehicles and security cameras in the parking lot,” CBS News reported. “The individuals launched fireworks in an apparent effort to lure law enforcement.”

The attack happened at 10:37 p.m. on July 4th. About a dozen people dressed in black, military-style clothing attacked the ICE facility. Federal prosecutors have charged these suspects with attempted murder of federal officers. They could spend life in prison if found guilty.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche spoke out on social media. He said the Department of Justice “has zero tolerance for assaults on federal officers or property and will bring the full weight of the law against those responsible.”

The Coordinated Attack

Federal investigators found this was not a random protest. It was a carefully planned military-style operation. The attackers shot fireworks and damaged security cameras in the parking lot. They did this to trick corrections officers into coming outside.

“And it worked,” said Larson, describing the trap. When two unarmed correctional workers stepped outside to check on the noise, they faced gunfire from attackers hiding in nearby woods.

An Alvarado police officer who came to help was shot in the neck. Court papers say the attackers fired 20 to 30 bullets during the attack. Thankfully, the injured officer will survive.

Arsenal of Weapons

The attackers came ready for war. When police arrested them, they found many dangerous weapons. These included multiple AR-15 rifles, extra ammunition, and body armor.

Police also found a jammed AK-47-style rifle left behind at the scene. They discovered a flag saying “fight oligarchy” and “resist fascism.” They also found flyers filled with anti-government messages.

Court documents show the suspects drove from different Texas cities like Dallas, Fort Worth, and College Station. They met online to plan this attack. One suspect admitted they went to the detention center to “make some noise.”

Justice Being Served

The Trump administration has moved quickly to punish those responsible. Ten suspects face three counts of attempted murder of a federal officer. They also face charges for firing guns during a violent crime.

The group facing these serious charges includes Cameron Arnold, Savannah Batten, Nathan Baumann, Zachary Evetts, Joy Gibson, Bradford Morris, Maricela Rueda, Seth Sikes, Elizabeth Soto, and Ines Soto. They come from various Texas cities.

While radical Democrats continue their dangerous rhetoric against ICE and border enforcement, the Trump administration stands firm. This quick response shows President Trump’s promise to protect those who enforce our immigration laws. As radical leftists target federal officers, the Justice Department has made it clear: attack our law enforcement, and you’ll face serious consequences.

The July 4th ambush reminds us of the dangers faced by the men and women who protect our borders. While some politicians trash ICE and other immigration officers, these brave Americans risk their lives every day to keep our communities safe.
