President Trump obeyed the law when he gave Democratic leaders time to restore law and order.
But it was clear many liberal mayors and governors were unwilling to end night after night of chaos.
So, Trump sent in federal law enforcement. Democrats flipped out, accusing Trump of abusing his authority.
Trump responded by promising more federal action if the riots do not end.
But what does the American people think? According to one poll, they approve of Trump’s actions:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 50% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-eight percent (48%) disapprove.
This is the highest approval Trump has received from the American people in a Rasmussen poll in months. It appears that after the COVID panic and police protests, Americans are coming around to his leadership.
The media tried to exploit these crises to slander the president. They ignored obvious information to blame the virus on Trump.
They also called the riots “peaceful” and Trump’s federal agents “stormtroopers,” even as cities burned.
But all that endless negative coverage has not seemed to dampen American approval of the president.
In fact, his approval is 3 points higher than Obama’s at this same moment in his presidency. Obama went on to easily win re-election.
Earlier in the Summer, the media even went as far as to claim Trump was going to quit or back out of the race.
Mounting polls suggested that Biden had an insurmountable lead over the incumbent, despite doing next to no campaigning.
This approval poll, while still only one poll, flies in the face of a narrative the left has been pushing for years: that Trump is a failure and Americans want him gone.
