After Governor Tries to Veto Historic Bill – GOP Make Power Move to Pass It in 1 Southern State

What’s Happening:

A power struggle at the state level ended with Republicans standing strong over legislative bills that canceled the Democrat governor’s random power of the pen. The newly minted laws are designed to create fairness in sports for women and protect children.

The governor didn’t see it that way and initially vetoed the bills before the GOP-led General Assembly overwhelmingly approved the laws which take place immediately.

From The Daily Wire:

North Carolina Republican lawmakers voted on Wednesday to override Democrat Governor Roy Cooper’s effort to veto a pack of legislation that included safeguarding parental authority in child education, protecting biological women’s sports, and banning medical professionals from performing gender reassignment treatments on children.

Cooper had described the bills as a “triple threat of political culture wars to harm children and damage the Tar Heel State’s reputation.” The Republican majority in the state assembly believes that radical gender medical practices are irreversible procedures, and the bills protect “children from long-term harm.”

North Carolina lawmakers aren’t alone in wanting to stop medical applications of gender theory. North Carolina is now the 22nd state to ban medical professionals from prescribing hormone therapy, puberty-blocking drugs, and gender reassignment surgeries to anyone under 18, according to The Associated Press. Another nine states have proposed restrictions but have not passed the bills.

Cooper sent out the typical anti-fairness, woke messaging in response to the GOP override. But his whining fell on deaf ears for those working for the best interests of women. Paula Scanlan, Stand with Women spokeswoman and advisor at Independent Women’s Voice, had sharp words for Cooper and his crowd in a news release.

“No young woman, least of all those who are adversely impacted with sexual trauma as I was, should be forced to share a locker room with a biological male,” Scanlan said. “And because of this legislation, in North Carolina they won’t.”

Lawmakers need to start working harder to retain fairness to women in all aspects of life. They should regain what has been lost under popular gender theory practices sweeping the nation.

Key Takeaways:

  • Republican lawmakers cancel veto power of Democrat governor.
  • State GOP majority enacts laws to protect women and children.
  • Women’s Voice leader praises laws as big wins against gender theory.
