Hours After Texas Files Suit In Supreme Court – President Trump Calls It The ‘Big One,’ And He Plans To Join It

What’s Happening:

Trump and various conservative groups have filed lawsuits over the 2020 Election. But one just came up that is catching everyone’s eyes.

The state of Texas has filed a lawsuit against four key states—taking it all the way to the Supreme Court. They are accusing the states of undermining the election by approving last-minute rule changes.

They are claiming these changes were not approved by the legislature, or else violated state constitutions.

And just hours after the news broke, Trump got involved. From The Daily Wire:

President Donald Trump announced that the federal government would be intervening in the case on the side of Texas on Wednesday morning, claiming that Texas’ suit is “the big one.”

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin arguing that the states should be blocked from voting in the electoral college over alleged violations of election law. The Supreme Court ordered the states to respond to the suit by Thursday.

President Trump is joining the state of Texas in their lawsuit against Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Georgia.

These four states have been the focus of much of the debate since Election Day. All of them had what many see as surprise Biden victories, in some cases days after the voting ended.

Texas is arguing that changes to their voting rules could invalidate the state’s electoral votes.

They want the Supreme Court to throw out these state’s contributions to the electoral college, considering these unconstitutional changes, or else force the state legislatures to decide, which are either divided or controlled by Republicans.

President Trump called this the “big one” and said that he and “numerous others” will be joining the lawsuit. He called the case “very strong” with “all criteria met.”

That seems to suggest Trump’s legal team has all the evidence to prove these four states’ electoral officials committed abuse—or at least pushed rules that violated the law and compromised the vote.

But could the Supreme Court rule to throw out these four states’ electoral votes? Such a thing has never happened in our lifetime.

If anything, this case might put pressure on the Republican lawmakers of these four states. They might be compelled to vote in favor of Trump, in light of all the evidence that comes out in this Supreme Court case.

The court is giving these states until tomorrow to respond, a sign that they are willing to take up the case. A case as big as this, presented by the entire state of Texas, will not be easily ignored.

How it shakes out could certainly impact this election.

Key Takeaways:

  • Texas is suing four states over the election results, taking it to the Supreme Court.
  • Trump and other groups are joining this case, calling it the “big one.”
  • This lawsuit seeks the court to invalidate the vote of four states that changed their voting rules, which could change the election outcome.
