Leftist Democrats in Congress have screamed about needing “unity” in the country to protect democracy and work toward the betterment of all people. But when it comes time to deliver on issues that work toward unity these radicals show their true colors.
Illegal immigrants have swarmed into the U.S. under the Biden administration and his Democrat cronies have supported this illegal effort with fervor. The surge in illegal immigrants has harmed Americans through increased elicit drug flow, sending social services in big cities to the breaking point, and violent crimes that have caused American deaths.
Republicans put forth legislation to stem criminal acts caused by this surge of people who shouldn’t be in the country. The action passed in the House, but not without a majority of leftist Democrats standing boldly in opposition to protecting Americans.

“170 House Democrats just voted against the Laken Riley Act, refusing to require the detention and deportation of illegal immigrants who have been caught committing a crime,” Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) posted to X. “Sadly, if these Democrats have their way, there will be more victims like Laken Riley.”
The bill would require federal officials to arrest illegal immigrants who have been charged with theft in the United States. The bill is named after Laken Riley, 22, who was brutally murdered allegedly by an illegal immigrant. The Georgia nursing student was killed while out for a run last month.
All voting Republicans and 37 Democrats united to pass the bill, 251-170. All votes against the positive legislation were Democrats.
The Laken Riley Act clearly defined how it will protect Americans. The bill would require the Secretary of Homeland Security to “take into custody aliens who have been charged in the United States with theft, and for other purposes.”
The person who allegedly killed Riley was previously arrested and roaming freely at the time she was murdered. This is a common occurrence where illegal immigrants who are arrested for criminal acts are set free before federal officials can deport them.
Leftist Democrats in the House appeared more concerned about protecting illegal immigrants than saving the lives of Americans. Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) suggested in a media interview that Democrats opposed the Laken Riley Act over concerns about the “rights” of illegals in custody. He thought detaining them was “un-American.”
The Laken Riley Act also added some legal teeth for state officials trying to combat illegal alien crimes. The bill would give the attorney general of a state or another authorized state officer the legal position to bring an action against the U.S. attorney general or secretary of Homeland Security if either allows the “release any alien or grant bond or parole to any alien that harms such State or its residents…”
The Laken Riley Act also soundly criticized Joe Biden for his failure to protect the U.S. border through his failed policies. It calls for the president to publicly denounce his administrations immigration policies, stop his abuse of parole authority, and end actions such as catch-and-release while increasing efforts to detain and remove criminal aliens from the U.S.
Riley’s death was even bumbled by Biden during his State of the Union speech on Thursday. He got her name wrong, calling Laken Riley “Lincoln Riley” in his address. Democrats apparently can’t even say her name for fear of showing real unity when it comes to protecting Americans.
