While Washington argues, the real work of defending this country must continue. And under President Trump, it absolutely will.

In addition to ICE, most of Customs and Border Protection’s personnel will also stay on the job during a shutdown. The agency has not only played an integral role in shutting down the borders under the Trump administration, but also in assisting ICE with its deportation operations across the country, including in Chicago and Portland.

While our so-called liberal leaders in Congress dither, the Trump administration has made one thing crystal clear: securing our nation is not a discretionary expense. It is a non-negotiable, essential duty. For the brave men and women of ICE and Customs and Border Protection, it remains “business as usual,” in the words of one agent. They will report for duty and enforce our laws, even as their paychecks are put on hold by the clowns in the Capitol.
