What’s Happening:
It is a longstanding tradition for the White House to invite championship-winning teams to come for a visit. Past presidents have welcomed NBA and MLB champs. Sometimes, they will invite winners of college championships. I guess presidents want a little bit of the glory by doing this. Obama did it all the time, accepting personalized jerseys with his name on them.
Recently, Americans watched the men’s college basketball teams compete in March Madness. It seems Jill Biden thought the women’s teams weren’t getting too much attention. After LSU’s women’s team won the championship, Jill invited them–and the losing team–to the White House.
This is how the star responded.
From Breitbart:
First lady Jill Biden wants the LSU women’s champion basketball team invited to the White House alongside Iowa, the team they defeated. A move that LSU star Angel Reese called a “joke.” […]
“I know we’ll have the champions come to the White House, we always do. So, we hope LSU will come,” she said. “But, you know, I’m going to tell Joe I think Iowa should come, too, because they played such a good game.”
In response, LSU star Angel Reese called the statement “A Joke” on Twitter.
Geez, Jill. Do you have any idea how competition works? I guess the former teacher thinks the losing team deserves recognition… for failing. That makes sense, coming from this administration. They constantly fail and think they deserve a medal for it.
Jill Biden must have been one of those moms who advocated for “participation trophies.” She is insulting the athletes who strove so hard to win the championship. She seems to think that they are less deserving of recognition since they won.
This comes from an administration that neglects critical problems. Biden’s people fail on a daily basis and refuse to own up to it. Then, they demand the media to spin their failures as a win. Talk about the pinnacle of “participation trophies.”
Angel Reese humiliated Biden by tweeting “A JOKE.” Hey, she worked hard and defeated a team, including rival Caitlin Clark–who was known for taunting other players. But yet Jill Biden wants to undermine everything LSU fought for, by welcoming the losing team?
Something tells me that, if the White House does go through with it, Reese won’t be there.
Key Takeaways:
- Jill Biden wants to invite the losing team from the women’s college basketball championship.
- Winning player Angel Reese mocked the idea on Twitter calling it “A Joke.”
