Republicans are moving forward quickly with an impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden. GOP members in the House believe there is evidence to support the effort. Questions are swirling on Capitol Hill and throughout the media as to who will be targeted to testify.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) made it clear over the weekend that the inquiry will focus on whoever can provide information to get to the truth of the matter. That includes members of the Biden family.
McCarthy made it clear on “Fox News Sunday” that Hunter Biden, the president’s son, will be subpoenaed. He said getting to that point will take a while and the timing won’t be dictated by the media.

“When’s the appropriate time? Do you do it because television wants it, or do you do it around the facts and the timing?” he asked.
McCarthy stated that there is enough evidence from both the House Judiciary and Oversight committees to move forward, according to the Daily Caller. The inquiry focuses on allegations that Biden was involved in influence-peddling with Hunter’s overseas business dealings. Republicans will target various Biden family members to get answers.
“Well, it looks to me like nine Biden family members got money. I want to see bank statements. I think they’d have to come before us to answer the questions,” McCarthy said.
McCarthy also said he wants to get the 5,400 emails that investigators know Biden sent using pseudonyms. That, he said, could be critical in determining what questions are needed to ask Hunter Biden during interviews.
“The one thing the American public has to understand is there’s a strategy behind everything,” McCarthy said. “You wouldn’t know any of this if we weren’t in charge. We only follow facts. Hunter Biden will get subpoenaed.”
The speaker believes the impeachment inquiry gives Congress the legal ability to get financial statements from Biden family members to find answers.
The White House reacted to the impeachment inquiry with a letter to news executives in an effort to rally help from the media. The letter last week said it is “time for the media to ramp up its scrutiny of House Republicans for opening an impeachment inquiry based on lies.”
While the administration’s plea to the media said the impeachment inquiry should “set off alarm bells,” Republicans are pushing forward by sounding the alarm that the Biden family may be in for serious trouble.
