In any showroom, the most dangerous car isn’t the one that looks broken. It’s the one with a fresh coat of paint hiding the rust underneath. That lesson applies well beyond the dealership – especially in an election year where the Democrat Party has lurched so far left it barely resembles itself.

Consider the trajectory. When Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) first arrived in Washington a year and a half ago, about 17 Senate Democrats voted to abandon Israel. Then it climbed to 27. Then 40. In the latest vote, 46 out of 47 Democrats turned their backs on our closest ally in the Middle East. Only John Fetterman held the line. That’s not a policy shift – that’s a full-blown collapse. And if you think the candidates waiting in the wings are any more moderate, I have a bridge to sell you.

Even against that backdrop, one 2026 candidate manages to stand apart from the pack. And a sitting U.S. Senator just said out loud what a lot of Americans have been thinking.

A wolf on the ballot

At a Breitbart News Fight Club Roundtable last Thursday, Moreno was asked to name the most extreme socialist candidate running in the midterms. He didn’t flinch.

From Breitbart News:

“Well, that’s like who’s the tallest midget? Because man, oh, man. That’s a tough one. I’d have to say just on sheer jihadist credentials, it would have to be Abdul El-Sayed,” Moreno replied. “This guy’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He goes on Fox News, and he deflects every question: ‘Did I want America to suffer during 9/11? Well, people can’t afford groceries.’ That isn’t the question that you were just asked. This guy is the most dangerous one.”

El-Sayed is the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan, running against Republican Mike Rogers. He insists he’s “not a socialist,” yet his campaign is backed by Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rashida Tlaib. He’s campaigned alongside far-left streamer Hasan Piker – a man who said America “deserved 9/11.” But sure, not a socialist.

The financial ties are even uglier. According to the NRSC, El-Sayed has taken over $115,000 from donors linked to the Council on American-Islamic Relations, including his own father-in-law, who sits on the CAIR-Michigan board. At a CAIR event in 2022, he openly defended Sharia Law in the United States. Read that again if you need to.

And this isn’t just campaign-trail mudslinging. A counterterrorism expert testified before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee in August that El-Sayed’s candidacy “raises homeland security concerns” due to family ties to Muslim Brotherhood-linked groups. When counterterrorism professionals are raising red flags about a Senate candidate, maybe we should listen?

The slickest ones are the most dangerous

Moreno, who grew up in the car business, framed it in terms anyone can understand. “The guys you gotta watch out for are the slick ones,” he said, comparing El-Sayed to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani – another polished radical who packages extreme ideology in a media-friendly wrapper.

That’s the playbook now. The Democrat Party doesn’t run openly on socialism and anti-Americanism anymore. They run smooth-talking candidates who dodge hard questions and pivot to talking points about grocery prices. As Moreno argued, Democrats use Israel – and every other wedge – as a vehicle to push a deeper message: that America itself is fundamentally broken.

It isn’t. But the people saying so are getting dangerously close to real power.

What Michigan voters need to understand

I’ll be direct with you. A Senate seat isn’t a city council position. It comes with committee assignments, intelligence briefings, and votes on national security that affect every American family. Michigan voters aren’t just choosing a senator next month – they’re deciding whether a man with documented ties to Brotherhood-linked organizations and a roster of socialist endorsements gets a seat at that table. Does that sit right with you?

Moreno was right about the showroom. The shiniest car on the lot sometimes has the worst engine. Michigan, for the love of this country, look under the hood.
