Trump has made news recently. He made a “big announcement” that turned out to be digital trading cards. He also released his plan to end Big Tech censorship, should he be re-elected. Yet recent polls haven’t been kind to him. It looks as if his campaign is over before anyone else’s starts.
But one poll suggests he’s still on top.

In a field of 14 candidates, among likely primary voters, Trump leads with 48%. Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., is second at 23%, followed by former Vice President Mike Pence 5%, Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., 4%, former governor of South Carolina and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley 3%, Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah 2%, and all others at 1%.
According to John McLaughlin, Trump still leads the GOP field. His latest poll shows Trump winning by 48% among 14 likely voters. Sixty-one percent of those polled want Trump to run for president. And 77% of “likely primary voters” say they would support Trump again.
Why is this poll so radically different than others that have recently come out? Other major polls show Trump losing to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. McLaughlin claims other MSM polls “dilute” their samples by making only 25% of their sample group Republicans.
That must not be the case, considering these polls ask only Republican voters (since they are GOP primary polls). The possible reason for Trump winning in this poll is that DeSantis has yet to announce a run. The lack of competition gives Trump an edge, at least for now.
It is likely many Republicans will challenge Trump for the 2024 primary. They will announce their bids, though, in 2023. How Trump will shape up then? We can only guess.
Trump still enjoys the support of millions of Americans. But many experts are urging him to work with his party, rather than tear it apart.
