Major Midterm Race Just Got Flipped on Its Head – Blue State New York’s Governor Race Poll Shows Zeldin in the Lead

What’s Happening:

In the weeks before the 2022 midterms, numerous outlets made shocking predictions. Supposedly safe seats, in deep blue states, were suddenly considered “toss ups.” Democrats that should have cruised into an easy win were scrambling, forced to even debate their hated Republican rivals.

One blue state Democrat should have been a shoo-in for re-election. But the race was turned upside by recent projections. And the debate between Republican and Democrat candidates did not go as the left planned.

Now, the unthinkable has happened. From Breitbart:

Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin takes the lead in the New York gubernatorial race in his attempt to oust Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul, according to a Trafalgar Group poll published late Monday night.

The poll found that of the 1,198 likely general election voters, 48.4 percent would vote for the Zeldin, while 47.6 percent would vote for Hochul…

The poll’s respondents were 53.6 percent Democrats, 27.5 percent Republican, and 18.9 percent had no party or other affiliation.

Yikes. This is not what Democrats were expecting in a state as deeply blue as New York. Even with only 27.5% Republicans responding in the poll, Lee Zeldin is leading Hochul. It’s a razor-thin advantage, but that was totally unexpected in New York.

Zeldin was much further behind the Democrats just a short time ago. But in recent weeks, he has been surging in the polls. This is possibly due to Hochul’s failure to address rampant crime in New York.

The governor tried to dismiss residents’ concerns over the crime spree, saying it was a “distraction” made up by Republicans. Not smart, lady. She should have vowed to make New York safer, but she doesn’t seem to care.

Hochul is responsible for the many policies that have hurt New Yorkers. She was on board with defunding police and eliminating cash bail. He seems to be prioritizing criminals, putting them back on the street as soon as possible, over law-abiding residents.

And that’s not getting into other problems facing New York, like rising homelessness and the battered economy. Thousands of New Yorkers have fled the state, thanks to problems Hochul and her Democrat predecessor refused to fix.

It looks like Hochul isn’t as safe as she thought.

Key Takeaways:

  • A new poll reveals Republican candidate for NY governor leading incumbent Hochul.
  • Lee Zeldin has been surging in the polls in recent weeks, as Hochul’s failed.
  • New Yorkers appear to be blaming the governor for rampant crime and other problems.
