You might have heard what happened in NYC. A madman with a gun just killed four innocent people in Midtown Manhattan. One of them was a police officer. A dad with young kids. And the city’s about to elect a mayor who wanted to completely get rid of the police department.
Here’s the thing – this isn’t just about one terrible shooting. This is about what happens when radical politics meets real life. When the bullets start flying and people are dying, all those Twitter posts about “dismantling” the cops don’t age well. The November election? It’s basically a choice between civilization and chaos.
From Fox News:
New York City Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mandani is facing renewed scrutiny for his past stances on policing in the wake of an office building mass shooting in Midtown Manhattan that left three civilians dead as well as a police officer…
…people quickly shared images of a June 8, 2020 post when Mamdani said “No, we want to defund the police” and a Nov. 5, 2020 post when he said “Queer liberation means defund the police.”
“We don’t need an investigation to know that the NYPD is racist, anti-queer & a major threat to public safety. What we need is to #DefundTheNYPD. But your deal with [New York City mayor] uses budget tricks to keep as many cops as possible on the beat. NO to fake cuts – defund the police,” he posted on June 28, 2020.
A Convenient Change of Heart
Hold on. These posts? They tell a completely different story than what Mamdani’s saying now. During the mayoral debates, he suddenly claimed “I will not defund the police. I will work with the police because I believe the police have a critical role to play in public service, public safety.”
His campaign website now talks about creating some Department of Public Safety. They say “police have a critical role to play.” How stupid do they think we are? This is the same guy who called them “wicked & corrupt” and wanted them gone.
Oh, and get this – the socialist candidate (yes, he actually calls himself that) has been caught on video saying he wants to “seize the means of production.” You can’t make this stuff up. And where is he while the city mourns a dead cop? Vacationing in Uganda. (Yes, you read that right – he’s on vacation in Uganda while cops are dying.)
Republicans Seize the Moment
I’ve seen this playbook before. The GOP isn’t wasting any time. They’re making Mamdani the face of every Democratic campaign from Long Island to Buffalo. Staten Island Republican chairman Michael Tannousis is already saying even judge candidates will be linked to this guy. He pointed out that “Zohran Mamdani is the official nominee of the Staten Island Democratic Party.” That’s gonna leave a mark.
Here’s what gets me – Suffolk County GOP chairman Jesse Garcia didn’t hold back at all. He straight up said: “The Democratic Party has anointed a communist as the face of the party. They’ve embraced his policy of defunding the police, antisemitism and higher taxes.” From Nassau County to Binghamton, Republicans think Mamdani is their golden ticket for November.
New Yorkers Express Their Fears
Let me be clear – people are scared. Really scared. Bill O’Reilly said it best Monday night. City residents are “very uneasy” and “100 percent scared” about just going to work or taking the subway. “Once you have a culture of violence, which you do have in New York City… anything can happen at any time,” O’Reilly said. He’s right.
Even Andrew Cuomo (remember him?) is finding people who won’t vote for Mamdani. During weekend campaign stops, regular people in Harlem were telling him straight up: “This guy who is running, what’s his name? Mamdani. I’m not with that.” These aren’t Republicans. These are Democrats in public housing who think this guy is too radical.
Key Takeaways
- Socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani repeatedly called to “defund” and “dismantle” the NYPD in 2020
- After winning the Democratic primary, he flip-flopped and now claims police have a “critical role”
- Republicans plan to tie Democrats statewide to Mamdani’s radical anti-police agenda
- NYC residents express growing fear as violent crime creates a “culture of violence”
