After Parents Sue Biden’s “Education Council” – Biden’s DOE Waves the White Flag, Disbands It “Immediately”

For years, many American parents have pushed back against the perceived “woke” agenda in the public school system.

Numerous lawsuits have landed in state courts, including one spearheaded by concerned parents against the Biden admin’s “national parents council.”

And they just scored a huge victory in that case.

It was officially called the National Parents and Families Engagement Council, and it was designed to find “constructive ways to help families engage at the local level.”

However, parents and right-wing lawmakers were immediately concerned given who was in the Council.

The lawsuit alleged that most members were allies of the Biden administration, and that almost 80% of the leaders donated to Democrat leaders.

And the results are in: (via Fox News):

The U.S. Department of Education is disbanding its newly created national parents council after multiple parental rights groups sued, alleging it was politically biased and violated federal law, according to court documents filed Monday.

The department will “immediately and permanently” disband the Council.

This was widely seen as a historic victory for parents who continue to feel forced into a woke agenda, which they believe negatively impacts a child’s development.

Said Parents Defending Education President Nicole Neily:

We are gratified that Secretary Cardona’s Potemkin village ‘Parents Council’ will be disbanded, because families should never be used merely as props to advance progressive policies.

Parental engagement is essential for students to succeed; accordingly, it is critical that ALL voices and perspectives be integrated into any feedback mechanism that the Biden Administration operates – and that the Department of Education respect the rule of law.

The lawsuit made it clear that the Council was not presenting a “fair balance of viewpoints,” as it was dominated by left-wing members and leaders.

Now, the lawsuit will be dropped because the Council is disbanding.

The battle between parents and the U.S. Department of Education is likely to continue, especially as conservative parents are feeling silenced and suppressed.

This results in pushing back on both the state and and federal levels — and the fight just keeps getting more contentious.

Key Takeaways:

  • The U.S. Department of Education has been forced to “permanently” disband a national parents council.
  • Parents sued because they claimed 80% of the leaders in the Council, and the organizations in it, were all liberal.
  • This did not represent a fair presentation of ideas, according to the suit.
