Possible Trump VP Pick Gives Her Answer – If Donald Picks Me, Here’s What I’ll Say

Former President Donald Trump hasn’t revealed his selection for a vice-presidential running mate on the 2024 presidential election ticket yet. Trump is the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party, and he has an array of potential running mates waiting in the wings.

Speculation on Trump’s choice has cycled from former GOP primary candidate challengers to officials from his previous administration. Even Democrats who have dropped their party affiliation have been bantered about as possible selections.

Still, Trump has played his selection – even the possibilities of who he might select – close to the vest. One outspoken former Democrat continues to circulate as a possible running mate for Trump, and this week she made clear how she will respond if the former president calls upon her.

From Blaze Media:
Former U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard indicated to BlazeTV host Dave Rubin that if former President Donald Trump asked her to serve as his 2024 running mate, she would accept the offer.

Gabbard told Rubin, “If that call came I would say yes.”

She indicated that getting the U.S. “back on track” would involve having courageous government figures “who care more about the country than they do about the political elite in Washington, and actually rooting out the deep rot that exists within our bureaucracies, the administrative state, the deep state in Washington.”

Gabbard continues to be a top selection pick for commentators following Trump’s campaign run. BlazeTV host Steve Deace noted in a tweet that Gabbard is his “prediction for Trump’s running mate.”

Gabbard has maintained a high profile even after leaving politics. She served in in Congress as a Hawaii Democrat from early 2013 through early 2021. She even backed Joe Biden in 2020 when she dropped her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. Then she announced in 2022 that she was “leaving the Democratic Party.”

She has continued in politics through her regular appearances on a variety of media shows both liberal and conservative. She has a new book, “For Love of Country: Leave the Democrat Party Behind,” that is slated for release this week.

Gabbard publicly stated that she “respectfully declined” any consideration to be the 2024 running mate for independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. She met with Kennedy several times, she said, as they became “good friends” before declining any offer to run with him.

Kennedy ended up choosing Nicole Shanahan, a strong liberal, as his running mate.

Gabbard’s decision to run with Trump if asked is in stark contrast to his previous vice-presidential running mate. Former Vice President Mike Pence, who served with Trump during his presidency, has stated he will not endorse Trump in 2024. This comes after Pence’s failed Republican presidential primary bid last year where he couldn’t ramp up a challenge to Trump and later dropped out of the race.

Many consider Tulsi Gabbard to be a strong contender because of her sharp criticism of the Biden administration as a former Democrat, as well has her commonsense policies. Her calm, well-spoken demeanor and her diversity could also help win independents and some liberals in 2024.

So what do you think? Should an independent and former Democrat be considered as a Republican running mate for Trump in 2024? And when should Trump announce his running mate this year?

Key Takeaways:

  • Tulsi Gabbard said, “Yes,” to the possibility of running alongside Trump in November.
  • The former Democrat, now an independent, said she supports Trump’s 2024 run.
  • Her promotion of Trump came after she rejected any offer from Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
