Right now, a massive scandal is blowing up in a blue state. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (who fancied himself our next vice president), is in the hotseat for letting Somali migrants scam the government. Reports are coming in that they took money to run daycare centers–which remained empty for years.

And that’s only for starters.

Trump and the DOJ have vowed to get to the bottom of this major scandal. Some Republicans want the offenders to be deported and stripped of any citizenship they may have. But as bad as that is, it seems it’s just par for the course for this group of migrants. News is rumbling that the second-largest group of Somalis in the U.S. was up to the same thing. But a notorious RINO governor seemed to be looking the other way.

From ‘Breitbart’:

A spokesperson for Gov. Mike DeWine (R-OH) said that “robust anti-fraud measures” are “unfortunately the cost of doing business” as state Republicans call for investigations into Columbus-area daycares suspected of fraud…

State Rep. Josh Williams (R) and other state Republicans signed onto a letter urging the Ohio Department of Children and Youth to investigate daycares suspected of fraud.

Williams wrote on X, “We need round-the-clock, unannounced inspections of all childcare facilities receiving public dollars to make sure not a single Ohioan’s tax dollars are being stolen. What’s happening in Minnesota is almost certainly occurring in Columbus–and Ohio needs to use every power we have under the law to put a stop to it.”

The ‘Cost of Doing Business’ Is Betrayal

While patriots like Josh Williams are ready to fight, the DeWine administration is content to point to flimsy “anti-fraud measures” that they implicitly admit are broken. They see a raging fire and respond by drafting a memo about the historical prevalence of arson.

This weak-kneed response is an insult to every Ohioan. It signals that the governor’s mansion is occupied by an administrator, not a leader. In an era where conservatives are demanding fighters who will defend their values and their wallets, Governor DeWine has shown he is merely a caretaker of a corrupt system.

Minnesota’s Shadow Looms Over Ohio

And here’s the truly infuriating part. This isn’t some brand-new scheme nobody saw coming. We’ve already seen this horror movie. It played out right next door in Minnesota, which was rocked by one of the largest COVID-era fraud schemes in the nation. Hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars were stolen through fake meal programs, much of it orchestrated within the state’s large Somali community.

The warning signs for Ohio could not be clearer. As the Breitbart report notes, “Columbus is the second largest home to Somalis in the country after Minneapolis, Minnesota.” This is not an attack on a community; it is a recognition of a pattern. A massive, brazen fraud was perpetrated by members of a specific community in one state, and now an identical situation is brewing in another state with a large population from that same community.

A competent governor would see this pattern and take aggressive, preemptive action. A conservative governor would use every tool at his disposal to protect his state’s treasury. Mike DeWine has done nothing. He has ignored the blaring alarms from Minnesota and is allowing the same rot to fester in the Buckeye State, while his office patronizingly tells concerned citizens that this is all business as usual.

This isn’t ‘business as usual.’ It’s political malpractice. It is the undeniable sign of a leader who has gotten too comfortable, too disconnected, and frankly, too weak to do the job conservatives elected him to do. Governor DeWine’s passive acceptance of corruption proves he is no longer fit to lead. It is time for a change. It is time for DeWine to be removed from power and replaced with a fighter who knows that defending taxpayer money isn’t a cost, but a calling.

Key Takeaways

  • Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s office is dismissing taxpayer fraud as the “cost of doing business.”
  • This weak stance represents a profound betrayal of core conservative principles of fiscal responsibility.
  • DeWine is ignoring clear warning signs from a nearly identical fraud scandal in Minnesota.
  • Conservatives must demand leaders who will actively fight government corruption, not surrender to it.
