Last night, numerous states went to the polls to vote for Republican candidates. Many polls suggest a red wave this November—but the establishment (and Democrats) were hoping anti-Trump Republicans would win the day.
Trump has thrown his weight behind several of last night’s candidates. And in one big race, a pro-impeachment Republican was forced to face the music.
From Daily Caller:
Republican Michigan Rep. Peter Meijer lost his Tuesday primary race to former Department of Housing and Urban Development official John Gibbs…
Meijer was one of ten Republicans in the House of Representatives to vote to impeach Trump in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
Continuing a pattern we’ve been seeing all year, numerous Trump-backed candidates won their GOP primary races last night.
That includes John Gibbs who went up against Michigan Rep. Peter Meijer. Meijer was one of the ten anti-Trump Republicans who voted for the left’s second impeachment against Trump in January 2021.
Gibbs wasn’t the only America-first Republican to win last night. Kris Kobach, former Kansas Secretary of State, won his primary race for state attorney general.
Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt won the Republican primary for the open U.S. Senate seat. Trump mysteriously endorsed ‘ERIC’ in this race, which could have been Eric Schmitt or Eric Greitens.
Trump-backed Tudor Dixon won a crowded primary for Michigan’s governor race. She will go up against Gretchen Whitmer, the incumbent Democrat who is widely unpopular but has the backing of wealthy donors.
One race that is still being watched is the GOP primary for Arizona governor. Trump-backed Kari Lake had a lead, but the margin is too close to call.
The race could lead to a runoff in the coming weeks.
These races continue to prove to the country that Trump is a force to be reckoned with. Republican Party voters look to him for guidance and encouragement.
And his endorsement of a candidate can make or break a campaign.
Democrats ignore Trump to their destruction.
