More school district officials are declaring their support of progressive ideology that contradicts the ideals of many people they serve. They are openly expressing how they feel through the promotion of what many Americans have considered obscene material for decades.
This open display has been seen more often lately as leftist school officials are sworn into office. Swearing in ceremonies are public forums often with media there to document the event through news articles and photos.
In this latest instance, the photo of a swearing in ceremony was worth several thousand words of praise for a controversial position supporting LGBTQ issues. The photo showed a school board member in Virginia taking the oath of office by placing his hand on a stack of books containing graphic depictions.

Karl Frisch, who will become chairman of the Fairfax County School Board, swapped the Bible for books including “Lawn Boy,” “Gender Queer,” and “Flamer.” His male partner held the books as he placed his left hand on them and his right hand in the air.
Traditionally, office holders across the United States have been sworn in using the Bible. The swearing in scene in Virginia has become more common place than many Americans may realize.
His campaign stated on his website that Frisch was “sworn in on a stack of the five LGBTQ-themed books most frequently banned by other school systems.” Frisch’s position was on display in September 2021 when nearly all Fairfax school board members except Frisch fled the dais as a mother read passages from the books.
A board member tried to shut down the mother’s microphone, declaring that “there are children in the audience.” The mother reminded everyone that the school district supported the books because, “These books are in stock and available in the libraries.”
According to The Daily Wire, Frisch is a Democrat campaign consultant from California with few roots in Virginia. He was first elected to the school board in 2019 after raising a large campaign coffer by fundraising from out-of-state donors on a platform of LGBTQ issues. He does not have any children and is an LGBT activist.
Frisch has presented himself publicly as a victim. He has described Fairfax County as being “targeted by religious extremists” despite the county being a diverse and liberal suburb of Washington, D.C.
“The religious nuts come out of the woodwork,” Frisch said. “Fairfax has a history of being an epicenter for right-wing religious fanaticism.”
He rejoins the Fairfax County School Board where all members are Democrats. A previous school board chair took the oath of office using an anti-American history book.
