Facebook Outed for Trump Censoring, Then Later on Admits to “Mistake”
Facebook Outed for Trump Censoring, Then Later on Admits to “Mistake”

I don’t have to tell you how social media favors the liberal narrative. Bombshell reports outed major outlets for censoring content that Democrats don’t like. For years, conservatives have criticized major social networks. These companies are owned and operated by liberals—and it is possible they go out of their way to help the left. Many Americans have been banned, blocked, or seen their posts removed. Big surprise, most of them were Trump supporters.

But this latest development has Americans shocked and disgusted in new ways.

The entire world knows about the attempted assassination of former President Trump. Images from this moment have gone viral again and again. One particular image has been shared millions of times: the moment Secret Service agents carried Trump off the sage. But when users on Facebook tried to post the image, they were hit with a “fact-check” claiming the image had been altered. Only after users demanded answers did Facebook come up with an excuse.

From Breitbart:
Facebook has acknowledged an alleged “mistake” in censoring an iconic image of former President Donald Trump following the July 13 assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, sparking renewed debate over social media content moderation practices. Meta labeled the famous photo as an “altered image,” only later admitting it was a “mistake.”…

Dani Lever, a spokesperson for Meta… explained that the fact-check was initially applied to a doctored version of the photo showing Secret Service agents smiling, and the system incorrectly extended this fact-check to the authentic image…

The company’s AI chatbot, Meta AI, referred to the assassination attempt as “fictional” when prompted for details about the event.

A Suspicious Mistake

Seems awfully convenient that Facebook is saying this was a mistake. According to the company, they were censoring altered versions of the image that had the agents smiling. Facebook claims the website incorrectly applied the same filter to the real version of the image—and expected users to believe that.

While that is certainly within the realm of possibility, there never seem to be similar “mistakes” with photos of Joe Biden or Kamala Harris. Facebook seems pretty good at blocking fake images of Democrats and never mistakenly censors real images of people on the left. These mistakes always seem to affect Trump and Republicans.

Bias Coming Through

This isn’t any ordinary image of Trump, mind you. This was a picture that quickly became iconic, some say it will be the moment of 2024—perhaps of the last ten years. Donald Trump narrowly survived an assassination attempt and brave agents are carrying him to safety. Many see this picture as emblematic of the struggle between patriotic Americans and the tyrannical left.

For Facebook to censor the picture could lead some to think the company doesn’t want people to know about the historic event. Democrats know the attempt made Trump more popular. Some have even tried to downplay the fact he was centimeters from death. Could Facebook have “inadvertently” been trying to prevent people from learning about this attack on Trump’s life?

A Dangerous Precedent.

Some might even view Facebook’s actions as putting the president (or his supporters) in more danger. By blocking people from learning about the attack, they could be depriving people of gaining sympathy for the former president. The more people care about him, the fewer people who think he is a “Nazi,” as the left frequently states. That means more support for Trump and less hostility.

But by blocking the image, Facebook could be continuing to allow people to hate Trump. Which will only lead to more possible acts of violence against him and his supporters. Democrats have gone to great lengths to paint Trump as a would-be dictator who wants to “destroy” democracy. As we saw two weeks ago, there are unhinged people who believe what Democrats say about Trump and think they need to stop him.

Facebook might have a lot to answer for, by trying to censor this image. While it might have been an “excuse,” users might want to know more about how and why Facebook blocks content on its platform.

Key Takeaways:

  • Facebook censored an image of the attempt on Trump’s life, labeling it as “altered” before admitting their mistake.
  • The incident has sparked outrage among conservatives, who see it as part of a broader pattern of censorship.
  • This comes as some Democrats have tried to downplay the attack, knowing it generated support for the Republican candidate.
