Senate Dems Kill Pro-Women Bill, Then They Get Torched by Republicans

Democrats in the Senate just made their priorities crystal clear. And women athletes didn’t make the cut.

In a shocking move Monday, Senate Democrats unanimously blocked legislation designed to protect women’s sports from male competitors. Not a single Democrat crossed party lines.

The bill would have ensured female athletes compete against other females – not biological males who identify as women.

Republicans didn’t hold back their disgust. And neither did female athletes who’ve been forced to compete against biological males.

From ‘The Post Millennial’:

Senate Democrats blocked a bill on Monday that sought to prohibit trans-identifying men from competing in women’s sports. The legislation, which required 60 votes to advance, failed in a 51-45 party-line vote. Democrats overwhelmingly favor the notion that men who say they are women really are actual women.

The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act aimed to define Title IX protections based on “reproductive biology and genetics at birth.” The bill needed 60 votes to advance, but with Democrats forming a united opposition, it fell short at 51-45.

President Trump had already taken executive action on this issue last month, directing federal agencies to enforce Title IX as originally intended when it was added as an amendment to the Civil Rights Act in 1972. The Senate bill would have codified these protections into law.

Republicans Stand for Women’s Sports

Republican senators unleashed a barrage of criticism against their Democratic colleagues following the vote.

Senator Tommy Tuberville, who sponsored the bill, called out Democrats for claiming that men in women’s sports isn’t a widespread problem. “One of Democrats’ most frequent talking points is that men competing in women’s sports doesn’t impact that many people,” Tuberville wrote. “This is a LIE. Over 900 women’s trophies have gone to men in the past 4 years.”

The Senate Republicans’ official account didn’t pull punches either. “For four years, Senate Democrats cheered as female athletes were forced to compete against men,” they posted. “Senate Republicans will ALWAYS fight for fairness and safety in women’s sports.”

Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas added: “The vast majority of Americans have rejected the farce of men pretending to be women playing in women’s sports. But not Senate Democrats! Senate Democrats STILL want to force girls to compete against men pretending to be women.”

So much for the party that claims to champion women’s rights. Apparently that only applies when it doesn’t conflict with their gender ideology.

Former NCAA Swimmer Warns Democrats

Few voices carry more weight on this issue than Riley Gaines. The former NCAA swimmer was forced to compete against and ultimately cede her trophy to trans-identifying male swimmer Lia Thomas.

Gaines didn’t just express disappointment – she issued a warning to Democrats about the political consequences of their vote. “To the Democrats who plan on voting NO on today’s vote to advance the Protection of Women and Girls in Sport Act, prepare for relentless campaign ads in 2026,” she posted.

After the vote, Gaines specifically called out Georgia Democrat Senator Jon Ossoff. “You have a daughter. Have you no shame? Georgians are watching. I will make it my mission to do what I can to remove you from your senate seat in 2026.”

A video shared widely on social media showed Senator Elizabeth Warren holding her thumb down during the vote, her face locked in a self-satisfied expression. Nothing says “feminist champion” quite like enthusiastically voting to let men take women’s athletic opportunities.

Democrats Ignore Voters at Their Peril

Republicans were quick to point out that protecting women’s sports isn’t just the right thing to do – it’s also overwhelmingly popular with voters.

Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma described it as an “80/20 issue,” suggesting that roughly 80% of Americans support keeping biological males out of women’s sports. This makes the Democrats’ unanimous opposition particularly puzzling from a political standpoint.

The party that endlessly lectures Americans about “following the science” just unanimously rejected the most basic biological reality. But 2026 is coming fast, and voters have long memories when it comes to politicians who sacrifice their daughters’ opportunities on the altar of woke ideology.

Key Takeaways:

  • Senate Democrats unanimously blocked the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act in a 51-45 party-line vote.
  • Over 900 women’s trophies have gone to biological males in the past 4 years according to Sen. Tuberville.
  • Riley Gaines warned Democrats they’ll face “relentless campaign ads in 2026” for opposing women’s sports protections.
