It seems Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema is becoming an increasing thorn in the Democrats’ side. Since entering the Senate, she has repeatedly refused to support her party’s most radical moves. She voted down killing the filibuster and other bills that would have given the left a huge advantage.
But she really sent Democrats for a loop when she abandoned the party.
Now, the independent senator has more freedom to oppose Joe Biden’s agenda. She has recently blasted Biden’s spending decisions, especially his unwillingness to negotiate with Republicans. And now, she is calling out what is no doubt Biden’s biggest failure–and is joining with a Republican to stop him.
Sinema said, “When the administration ended Title 42 without an appropriate plan in place, once again, the burden falls on the shoulders of Arizona’s border communities. And, of course, this is a growing humanitarian crisis for the migrants themselves. So, Sen. Tillis (R-NC) and I have introduced a bill to extend the elements of Title 42 so that the administration can do what it should have done over the last two years, which is prepare for the end of this program.”
Sen. Sinema is partnering with Republican Sen. Tillis to push a bill that will extend the limits of Title 42, even after Joe Biden ended it. Sinema called out Biden for ending Title 42 (the only rule left that allowed Border Patrol to deport illegals) without a plan to deal with the explosion of illegal immigration that followed.
The independent senator pointed out that when Biden ended Title 42, he left the fallout to border communities. Biden appears to have completely abandoned border towns, which are being overrun by illegal aliens.
We know all about that. But Sinema pointed out something the Democrats don’t want you to know. That, by refusing to enforce our immigration laws and defending the border, Biden is also hurting the migrants as well.
If we had a secure border–and if Border Patrol was able to obey the law and deport illegals–migrants wouldn’t be risking their lives to rush the border. Millions of people have crossed South America to reach the border, because they were told they’d be let in.
Numerous lives have been lost on the journey, including the lives of children. People are becoming victims of the drug cartels and human smugglers. Sinema is not wrong to say this is a humanitarian crisis, that Biden is doing nothing about.
That’s enough for Congress to act to hold him accountable. But will it bother to?
