After Trump Shuts Down North Korea Talks, He Gets The Result He Wanted

When Trump shut down the much-discussed meeting with North Korea, everyone was shocked.

Perhaps the biggest meeting between two world leaders in years was suddenly canceled. But it looks like, as usual, Trump knew exactly what he was doing.

In recent months we’ve seen amazing things happen in the Korea peninsula. North and South Korea are talking. Their leaders met in China, discussing a wide range of issues. Talk of an official treaty ending the Korea War was even put forward. More amazing: Kim Jong-Un wanted to meet with President Trump himself.

But in the last week, things seemed to change. A few figures within North Korea started making wild claims. It looked the rogue state was up to its old tricks. So, Trump pulled the plug.

The president’s critics jumped on the move, as you can expect. They used it to bash his strategy.

My, my, look what’s happening now?

From AP News:

President Donald Trump on Friday warmly welcomed North Korea’s promising response to his abrupt withdrawal from the potentially historic Singapore summit and said “we’re talking to them now” about putting it back on track.

“Everybody plays games,” said Trump, who often boasts about his own negotiating tactics and skill.

The president, commenting as he left the White House for a commencement speech, said it was even possible the summit could take place on the originally planned June 12 date.

“They very much want to do it, we’d like to do it,” he said.

Earlier Friday, in a tweet, he had called the North’s reaction to his letter canceling the summit “warm and productive.” That was far different from his letter Thursday to North Korea leader Kim Jong Un, blaming “tremendous anger and open hostility” by Pyongyang for the U.S. withdrawal.

The tone from both sides was warmer on Friday. First, North Korea issued a statement saying it was still “willing to give the U.S. time and opportunities” to reconsider talks “at any time, at any format.”

Leave it to liberals to completely miss what’s going on.

When it was announced President Trump was going to meet with Kim Jong-Un, the left scoffed. They even went as far as claiming it was a bad idea. Or, perhaps, America shouldn’t cooperate with North Korea. It was very obvious they just didn’t like Trump achieving yet another victory.

Then Trump pulled the plug. All of a sudden, he was a rash and impatient leader who cannot get along with other countries. Really? Days earlier, the left didn’t want him to talk with North Korea.

That’s the Democratic Party for you. They are the kings of the flip-floppers.

Keep in mind, Trump is the master negotiator. He’s been scoring major wins for decades. The president knows how to get things done—even with the most difficult people. Cancelling the meeting was exactly what needed to be done, so that North Korea would do the right thing.

Now they are saying “anywhere, anytime, Mr. Trump.” The North Koreans want to get along with the United States. We might see a transformation within the peninsula. North Korea might be changed forever, for the good.

Thank the president for his shrew negotiating skills.
