Human resources types love to mix up words to sound like they aren’t doing anything harsh to employees. But people know what “on leave” really means in today’s world of covering up controversies.
It means, “You’re gone.”
Two top Anheuser-Busch marketing executives were placed “on a leave of absence” after the beer maker decided to promote Bud Light with a transgender social media influencer. Sales have plummeted and the company has lost billions in valuation.
The whole ordeal has been a bad hangover for Bud Light where “marketing professionals” keep puking up bad ideas for getting customers to return to the brand.
Now it has been revealed that the two executives linked to the controversy have been sent packing.
From the Daily Caller:
Group Vice President for Marketing Daniel Blake and Bud Light Marketing Vice President Alissa Heinerscheid are “gone gone,” according to obtained text messages with a current regional head of marketing.
The Daily Caller is keeping its source anonymous for legal reasons, but it was clear that the company had to do something or face the wrath of wholesalers who get the beer to customers.
“Wholesalers were told they are both gone for good by leadership during in person conversations. They already shifted all their direct reports to new people and the head of marketing,” the source added in another text message obtained by the Caller.
This all started after Bud Light was hammered by a customer boycott. Public opinion quickly boiled into a frenzy after the company featured the face of transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney on a personalized beer can. Bud Light lost the top spot as America’s top-selling beer in early June.
Heinerscheid publicly described Bud Light customers as “fratty” and the company’s past marketing – to a highly loyal customer base – as “out-of-touch humor.”
What is amazing in this situation is that the company didn’t fire these two marketing executives from the start. Anyone who spearheads a marketing campaign that destroys billions in company value should be gone instantly.
“Progressive” companies are so afraid of backlash from their woke employees and customers that they won’t act in the best interests of the company.
Ironically, Bud Light forgot that most of its employees and customers aren’t woke and never will be converted. Maybe a few games of “fratty” beer pong will help them forget their mistakes.
