Top Republican Files 2 Major Subpoenas – He’s Going After Mayorkas and the Secret Service

What’s Happening:

Republicans continue to dive deeper into potential corruption within the Joe Biden administration. They want to know why and how Biden’s transition team had allegedly inside information into sensitive investigations before he was officially the president.

New letters and subpoenas were sent by Republicans to key Biden-appointed officials regarding the Secret Service’s alleged tip-off of the Biden transition team for a planned Hunter Biden tax probe interview in 2020. GOP members are also accusing the Department of Homeland Security and Secret Service agencies of obstructing a congressional investigation.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer sent six subpoenas Tuesday. One is for DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and five are for depositions – two to Secret Service officials and three to DHS officials.

From Fox News:

“The Department of Justice initiated the Biden family coverup and now DHS under the leadership of Secretary Mayorkas is complicit in it,” Comer told Fox News Digital. ” This is just one of many examples of the misconduct and politicization during the Department of Justice’s investigation.”

Comer has said the committee continues to face push back from federal officials under Biden as they seek interviews with key witnesses if various federal agencies. He made it clear that House Republicans are working to “hold the Biden Administration accountable for running interference for the Biden family’s corruption and criminal activity.”

These latest legal maneuvers follow whistleblower testimony earlier this year that appeared to expose political pressure to meddle in investigations of the president’s son, Hunter, and their business dealings together. This level of interference and obstruction is not acceptable to Republicans.

DHS has denied any wrongdoing in the ongoing investigation and has stated any delays are necessary to protect sensitive law enforcement matters. Republicans aren’t buying their claims.

“The Department of Homeland Security is obstructing our investigation by muzzling the Secret Service from providing a response to Congress,” he explained. “The American people deserve transparency, not obstruction.”

The back-and-forth between these federal agencies and Republicans in the House has been going on for months. Letters and subpoenas don’t seem to be having any effect on agency heads who control information and witnesses that Congress is asking for during this investigation. Republicans are facing an uphill battle in getting to the bottom of any allegations against these agencies and the Bidens.

Key Takeaways:

  • Republicans fire off more letters and subpoenas against Biden’s administration.
  • House GOP members want agencies leaders to stop obstructing investigations.
  • Federal agencies say delays in response are necessary to protect sensitive matters.
