The golden shoes were sold on a website that is taking preorders for a $99 cologne and a $99 perfume. There is also an offer for a different style of sneaker, available in two colors, that is being sold for $199.
News reports tied the sneaker launch to Trump facing multiple court judgments forcing him to fork over hundreds of millions of dollars. A New York judge ruled against him in a civil business fraud case and ordered him to pay more than $350 million. Trump also lost a defamation lawsuit and was ordered by a New York jury to pay a woman approximately $83 million.
