Karoline Leavitt Is the Feisty 27 Year-Old Pick for Trump’s New Press Secretary

UPDATE: Just hours after publishing this story, it was confirmed — Karoline Leavitt is in as Trump’s Press Secretary!

It’s been one week since Donald Trump shocked many by winning the presidential election. Not only did he trounce Kamala Harris in the Electoral College but also in the popular vote.

Now, Trump is hard at work putting his administration together. At the time of this writing, he has yet to officially name his press secretary.

With speculation mounting as to who Trump’s press secretary will be, one name is emerging. That person is none other than 27-year-old Karoline Leavitt.

From Daily Mail:
She’s been thrown off CNN for calling it a ‘hostile environment,’ reamed out journalists for negative coverage, and at the tender age of 27 is already a veteran of a Trump administration. Oh, and she’s a new mom.

Now Karoline Leavitt is in the pole position to be tapped as Donald Trump‘s White House press secretary after his election victory. Figures in Trump world said Leavitt has impressed the president-elect with her no-nonsense attitude and work ethic. Four days after giving birth to son Niko in July, she was back on the campaign trail after seeing her boss get shot on live TV.

“She talks to everybody, not just Fox News, but goes on TV and takes incoming, which is a big part of the job, and then she hits back and is a very, very effective messenger,” said one source who is close to Trump. “The president trusts her and trust is everything with him.”

Given how hostile the media is towards Trump, being his press secretary is no easy task. Joe Biden’s press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is typically given softball questions by the bulk of the press when she shows up for work each day. In contrast, Trump’s previous secretary Kayleigh McEnany walked into a room full of hateful reporters ready to attempt to rip her to shreds on a daily basis.

McEnany was able to more than hold her own against the negative liberal press. It seems that Leavitt could have the set of skills that would allow her to do the same.

“And Trump loves the way she takes incoming on CNN and then punches back,” another friend of Trump’s said of Leavitt. “She’s a star.”

Meet Karoline Leavitt

After graduating from Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire, Leavitt initially joined the office of presidential correspondence. There, she helped process and reply to incoming mail.

Leavitt later joined the communications team under McEnany towards the end of Trump’s first term. Once Trump left the White House, Leavitt went to work for high-profile New York Rep. Elise Stefanik (R).

Leavitt then made her own run for Congress in New Hampshire, attempting to become the youngest woman ever elected to Congress. Unfortunately, she fell short by just 15,000 votes. Undeterred, Leavitt was back working with a pro-Trump group weeks later. She joined Trump’s campaign earlier this year.

Leavitt and her husband Nick welcomed their first child in July. Days later, Leavitt returned to work after Trump was shot in an assassination attempt on his life.

“The president literally put his life on the line to win this election,” she said at the time. “The least I could do is get back to work quickly.”

Only time will tell if Trump makes Leavitt his press secretary. However, it’s clear that she’s very suited for the job!

Key Takeaways:

  • Karoline Leavitt is a frontrunner to be Trump’s press secretary.
  • The 27-year-old has been working for Trump for years.
  • Leavitt returned to work for Trump days after giving birth over the summer.
