Former President Donald Trump isn’t afraid of court battles. That’s especially true when he believes someone illegally moved against him.

For example, there’s veteran journalist Bob Woodward, who published a book about the infamous “Trump Tapes”.

That book just hit store shelves last week — but there may be very big consequences.

“The Trump Tapes: Bob Woodward’s Twenty Interviews with President Donald Trump” is pitched as being an “inside” look at the Trump administration.

Woodward also put out a book in 2018 called “Fear: Trump in the White House,” that became a best-seller for publisher Simon & Schuster.

Obviously, Trump isn’t too pleased with this sort of publicity.

And now he’s saying the latest information wasn’t obtained with permission. Via The Daily Caller:

Former President Donald Trump is suing veteran journalist Bob Woodward for allegedly releasing interview tapes without authorization.

Trump’s attorneys filed a $49 million lawsuit against Woodward and his publisher, Simon & Schuster, for allegedly exploiting Trump by publishing an audiobook of his interviews with Woodward, according to Bloomberg.

Trump’s lawyers claim that the case revolves around Woodward’s “systematic usurpation, manipulation, and exploitation of audio of President Trump.”

They’re saying this was “protected material” and therefore “subject to various limitations on use and distribution.”

The complaint was filed in a Northeast Florida court, and it could cause significant problems for the publisher.

As for Woodward, he’s the famous Washington Post journalist who reported on the Nixon Watergate scandal back in 1974.

He has written multiple books concerning past administrations, including the Clinton, Bush, and Obama presidencies. He’s likely used to legal hurdles.

In this particular case, the lawsuit says Trump agreed to the conversations but never intended for the interviews to be released as audio recordings.

And he certainly doesn’t want to see them summarized in a book, either.
