Don’t you just love when you get help from an unexpected person?
President Trump has been working hard to get America back on track in global trade and make things an even playing field again.
The other day he announced some changes to trade import duties with China and Liberals started losing their minds.
What’s new I guess, right?
Well Trump got some unexpected support from Tesla/SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Twitter and now the left has no idea how to feel about things.
Elon has been feeling the pain of unfair trade in America for several years now.
He asked Trump on Twitter:
“Do you think the US & China should have equal & fair rules for cars? Meaning, same import duties, ownership constraints & other factors.”
“For example, an American car going to China pays 25{75726800c12fe2ebed14402fd98444a61f7eda42751f92330bc58faf20bd8821} import duty, but a Chinese car coming to the US only pays 2.5{75726800c12fe2ebed14402fd98444a61f7eda42751f92330bc58faf20bd8821}, a tenfold difference.”
“I am against import duties in general, but the current rules make things very difficult. It’s like competing in an Olympic race wearing lead shoes.”
He brings up some amazing points here that will cause any Liberal’s head to explode from a logic overload.
Why should we just allow China to walk all over us and charge a 25{75726800c12fe2ebed14402fd98444a61f7eda42751f92330bc58faf20bd8821} import duty when we only charge 2.5{75726800c12fe2ebed14402fd98444a61f7eda42751f92330bc58faf20bd8821}?
How is that even close to fair and why has it gone on for so long? Trump is trying to take off America’s lead shoes and get us back in the lead.
How can we expect American companies to compete if foreign companies can import their goods as such a low rate?
I, for one, proudly stand by Trump in his efforts to bring America back to greatness on the global trade market and I’m glad that smart businessmen can put aside personal views and respect good policy. Good job on Elon Musk taking the high ground on this one.
