What’s Happening:
Not too long ago, all eyes were on the close race for governor of Virginia. Democrat Terry McAuliffe should have been a shoo-in. But over the Summer, his lead shrank as he (and his party) made plenty of mistakes.
Now, a shocking new poll shows the Democrat might be in big trouble.
From Fox News:
Republican Glenn Youngkin has moved ahead of Democrat Terry McAuliffe in the Virginia governor’s race, less than a week before the election.
McAuliffe receives 45 percent to Youngkin’s 53 percent in a new Fox News survey of Virginia likely voters. Youngkin’s eight-point advantage is outside the poll’s margin of sampling error.
Hot on the heels of this news comes Mike Pence swooping in to support Youngkin. From PJ Media:
Former Vice President Mike Pence strolled into battleground Loudoun County to discuss parents’ rights and school choice five days before big elections in Virginia.
And big surprise, the media suddenly has lost interest in covering this major election. From Newsbusters:
You know a state-level race isn’t going the Democrats’ way when the broadcast networks were going through great lengths to avoid covering it. That was exactly the case Thursday evening as they avoided covering the release of multiple polls that had Virginia Republican gubernatorial nominee Glenn Youngkin pulling ahead of struggling Democrat Terry McAuliffe.
Democrat Terry McAuliffe was ahead in most polls just this Summer. But the ongoing failures of Joe Biden and his party have appeared to sour many VA voters. McAuliffe himself has made many mistakes, including attacking parents who questioned schools boards and his apparent support of the cover-up scandal out of Loudon County.
This has resulted in recent polls showing Republican Glenn Youngkin with a solid lead over McAuliffe. Early voters who cast their votes for Youngkin, revealed they formerly supported Democrats. But ongoing failures, as well as harsh restrictions and mandates, have turned them away.
Mike Pence visited Loudon County himself to rally Youngkin supporters. He urged voters to vote for the Republican, in order to preserve “educational freedom.” We shouldn’t be surprised that the media, who had just been covering the race from coast to coast, is suddenly losing interest.
We can’t predict what will happen, come Election Night, but Democrats are already bracing for the worst. They are pulling back coverage, hoping to diminish a potential Republican win. The results of this race could have an impact on the future of the Democratic Party. And they don’t want the rest of the country to know if they lose.
Key Takeaways:
- Republican Youngkin has a lead in many polls over Democrat rival McAuliffe.
- Mike Pence traveled to VA to support Youngkin for governor.
- The MSM has suddenly stopped talking about the race, due to the latest polls.
